Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has ordered all Chairmen, Councilors, and elected officials of the state’s Local Government Areas to resign from their positions.
This platform understands that the order came after their contract expired on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
The acting governor thanked the local government representatives while advising them to transfer authority responsibly in a statement released by his spokesperson, Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson.
According to Naija News, the Aiyedatiwa directive will be issued roughly six months before the state’s local government elections.
The council election has to be moved from its original December date to February 2024.
This suggests that all Chairmen and Councilors would leave their positions in a timely manner and take over control of the Local Governments.The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has instructed the Heads of Local Government Administration in the eighteen (18) Local Governments throughout the State to take charge of the administration of the Local Governments immediately, pending further instructions from the State Government, in light of the aforementioned and in order to prevent a vacuum.
