Different petitions by concerned citizens against the Chairman of Ahoda Local Government, Cassidy Ikegbidi are now before the Independent Corrupt Practices commission (ICPC), and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
The petitioners are asking that Ikegbidi explain how he spent the council’s allocation for October to December 2011.
Another culprit being fingered is the Treasurer of the council, Tygher Geshon, recently quizzed at the Rivers State Police Command, when he and his boss could not explain to the Rivers State House committee on public petitions, how the allocation was spent.
The sidekicks are been asked to account for money up to the tune of N500 million that varnished into thin air with breakdown as follow: October 2011, N186.351.44 million; November 2011, N227. 994. 815. 67 million; December 2011, N127. 884. 653. 11.
Sources say Ikegbidi recently added six brand new luxury cars to his personal fleet. The cars include a Hummer SUV, 2011 Chrysler, 2011 Honda Accord, Hylander SUV, Infinity SUV, and a Thundra Hilux truck. He also took delivery of another fiver luxury cars which he gave out to his mother, kids, wife and siblings.
Ironically, Ikegbidi has refused to purchase befiting official vehicles for his vice chairman, and committees in the legislature.
Meanwhile a younger sibling of his, a youth corper, Celestina Ikegbidi gets N1 million per month for her position as confidential secretary to Ikegbidi. His mother, Madam Ikegbidi is also alleged to be on a princely N400,000 per month for hanging around the council secretariat.
Defending his ineptitude before the public petitions committee, Ikegbidi admitted he owns all the cars but said , some he got before assuming office as chairman.
He denied he owns a N100 million home in Npkor, but could not explain what happened to the 2011 last quater allocation.
