The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has said serious health security has been put in place to prevent the spread of Coronavirus within the institution during its coming 51st convocation.
Ogundipe, at a pre-convocation press conference on Monday, said efforts had been put in place by the university to ensure that visitors were safe.
The VC said the school would also inaugurate some infrastructures completed within its premises.
“No cause for alarm over covid-19. There will be maximum health security by the team in charge of that. I have instructed them and work is going on well. There will be several preventive measures on that day. Hand sanitisers will be in public places for guests to wash their hands.
“The 2018/2019 convocation ceremony will take place between March 9 and 12 at the J. F. Ade-Ajayi Auditorium, main campus.
“The convocation lecture titled, ‘The Role of Disruptive Technologies in Sustainable Economic Transformation’, will be delivered by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami,” Ogundipe said.
The Vice-Chancellor added that a total of 13,489 students would be graduating, adding that 281 of them graduated with first class.
