A new report claims that Ayomide Adeleye, the murder suspect who publicly confessed to killing a young woman, Idowu Christiana, after demanding a N3 million ransom from her parents, was never remanded or imprisoned.
Superintendent of Police Ben Hundeyin had earlier confirmed on his X page that Adeleye was in police custody and that an investigation was underway. However, months later, the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) revealed information from a credible source suggesting otherwise.
According to the source, there were two individuals named “Ayomide Adeleye” in custody, one held at Ikoyi and the other at Kirikiri Medium Prison, but neither was charged with murder or kidnapping. Both individuals have reportedly been released.
The source stated, “We had one in Ikoyi and another in Kirikiri Medium, but they are no longer with us. None of them faced charges for murder or kidnapping.”
