The Football Association (FA) has made a last-minute change to the officiating team for the upcoming Community Shield match between Manchester United and Manchester City. Originally, John Brooks was set to referee the match at Wembley Stadium, but due to a minor injury, he has been replaced by Jarred Gillett.
Gillett, who was initially assigned as the fourth official for the game, will now step in as the main referee. Sam Barrott will take over Gillett’s role as the fourth official. Additionally, Adrian Holmes and Nick Greenhalgh will serve as Gillett’s assistant referees, while Peter Bankes will oversee VAR operations at Stockley Park, supported by Sian Massey-Ellis and Tim Robinson.
The Community Shield is traditionally seen as the curtain-raiser for the new season, pitting Premier League champions Manchester City against FA Cup winners Manchester United.
