A woman named Dominica Chinwe, who identified herself as a close friend of the late singer Mohbad, has opened up in an emotional and detailed interview with activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), shedding new light on the troubled star’s final years.
Dominica, who claimed she met Mohbad through her ex-boyfriend—a friend of the singer—recounted several disturbing events involving the NDLEA, Mohbad’s mental health struggles, and tensions within his relationship with his wife, Wunmi.
She recalled being at her ex’s Victoria Island home with Mohbad, Wunmi, and her ex on the day Zinoleesky was arrested. After receiving news of the incident, they all rushed to the Marlian Music house, only to find it barricaded by NDLEA operatives. Mohbad managed to enter the compound and instructed Dominica to go live on social media to raise awareness.
Describing the chaos, she said Mohbad confronted the NDLEA agents as they tried to detain Zinoleesky. During the scuffle, Wunmi allegedly struck one of the officers.
“Mohbad told us to enter his car and followed the NDLEA bus to the estate gate. They started shooting and rammed his car three times. He jumped out in anger and began exchanging blows. They beat him badly with the butt of their rifles and forced him into their van while he was bleeding,” she narrated.
Dominica claimed that although Mohbad was released later that night due to an upcoming show in Dubai, the incident took a toll on his health.
“After the NDLEA incident, he was hospitalized and later taken to Aro for mental health treatment because he constantly complained about his head,” she added.
She also made serious claims about Wunmi, alleging she used laughing gas and once reached out to Naira Marley, saying Mohbad’s family was trying to harm him. Dominica said Wunmi disclosed personal family matters to Naira in an effort to get assistance. A UK-based doctor had reportedly offered to treat Mohbad abroad, but plans changed when Wunmi allegedly blamed Dominica’s ex for Mohbad’s condition.
Even after leaving the mental health facility, Dominica said Mohbad was not stable and was often taken care of by a nurse his family arranged. She revealed the family eventually reconciled with Naira Marley, despite the viral video where Mohbad said,
“If I die, it is Naira Marley.”
According to Dominica, Mohbad was not in a sound state when he recorded that clip. She further alleged another emotional video—where Mohbad told Wunmi that her family would not know peace if anything happened to him—was shot in 2022 and later leaked after his passing.
She also recounted a time when Wunmi allegedly informed Naira Marley that Bella Shmurda, one of Mohbad’s closest friends, had offered him drugs.
