Sporadic gunshots and a bomb explosion have been heard close to a theatre building used by Christians students for Sunday church service at Bayero University Kano.
According to officials of the school the incident is still ongoing.
Officials have not released any details about possible casualties, though unconfirmed reports suggested some people had been injured.
“There was a huge explosion at the open air theatre close to the entrance of the old site of the university during a church service by Christian students,” the source said.
