American R&B star Chris Brown has been granted bail by a UK court in connection with an assault case, with a condition that he posts a £5 million bond.

The 36-year-old Grammy-winning singer, though absent from the bail hearing, was allowed to continue his international tour, which kicks off on June 8 in Amsterdam. However, the judge ruled that if Brown fails to return to the UK for his upcoming concerts starting June 15, the bail amount will be forfeited.

Brown faces charges of “grievous bodily harm with intent” after allegedly attacking a man with a bottle before further assaulting him with punches and kicks at a London nightclub in Hanover Square on February 19, 2023.

Authorities arrested him on May 13 at a luxury hotel in Manchester after he arrived in the UK via private jet.

At the Southwark Crown Court in London, Judge Tony Baumgartner set several conditions for Brown’s bail: he must stay at an approved address, surrender his passport unless traveling, avoid the nightclub where the incident occurred, and have no contact with the alleged victim, Abraham Diah.

Brown, along with his co-accused, U.S. citizen Omololu Akinlolu, will return to court on June 20.
