Rapper Chris Brown was taken into custody early Thursday morning at a luxury hotel in Manchester in connection with a nightclub bottle attack that occurred in London.
The 36-year-old American artist was arrested by Metropolitan Police officers just after 2 a.m. at The Lowry Hotel.
The arrest is linked to an alleged assault on music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in Hanover Square, Mayfair, on February 19, 2023. Diaw claims that Brown launched an unprovoked attack on him around 3 a.m. at the upscale club.
Brown had flown into the UK the previous day on a private jet, landing at Manchester Airport. Following a tip-off by The Sun about his presence in the country, detectives from the Met traveled to Manchester to apprehend him.
He was taken to a local police station for questioning and remains in custody.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated: “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody. The arrest is connected to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023.”
