The Chief Whip of the Kano House of Assembly, Zubairu Mahmud was on Thursday, impeached for being loyal to the immediate past governor of the state, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The Assembly replaced Zubairu Mahmud from Madobi constituency with Labaran Madari, who represents Warawa constituency.
Kwankwaso and his successor, Governor Umar Ganduje have been on a warpath of late, with the latter vowing to expose the shady dealing of the former, while he served as Kano governor.
The former governor was recently suspended by the Kano chapter of the All Progressives Congress over alleged anti-party activities and also for eyeing the office of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Following Thursday’s impeachment of the Chief Whip, thirty four out of the 39 members of the Kano state House of Assembly proceeded to pass a vote of confidence on Ganduje as the leader of All Progressive Congress in Kano.
The lawmakers also reaffirmed their support to the administration of President Muhammad Buhari and kano state Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The other members of the Assembly believed to be loyal to Senator Kwankwaso were absent from the Assembly when the impeachment took place.
