Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect in the death of Super TV CEO Michael Ataga, denied killing him in a confessional video played before a Lagos State High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square on Tuesday, October 18.
Ojukwu backtracked on her previous confession of killing Ataga in the video played before Justice Yetunde Adesanya.
She claimed she didn’t know who killed the deceased because she went out on the day of the incident and returned to find Ataga on the floor.
She claimed she fled the scene quickly because she was terrified. “I’m not sure who came in. “I just picked up my belongings and left because I was scared,” she explained.
This contradicted her confession at the previous hearing, on October 11, 2022, when the video recording of Ataga’s lifeless body was first shown.
In the video, she stated that she killed the deceased on her own.
“There was nobody who helped me; I did it alone,” she says.
When a member of the interrogation team asked why she claimed the blood stains on her clothes were from her period, she insisted that she did not murder Ataga.
“I don’t know who came in after I left the room, when I came back I saw him bleeding, I had to leave because I was scared, I did not kill him, I don’t know who killed him.” She said.
When asked why she ordered Loud and Rophynol, the defendant stated that the deceased ordered them and she has no idea where he ordered them from.
When asked why she took the deceased’s two iPhones and Mac Laptop, the defendant claimed they were her belongings and she picked them up and left because she was scared.
Chidinma was also asked why she took the deceased’s two iPhones and Mac Laptop, to which she replied that they were her possessions and that she picked them up and left because she was afraid.
