Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate for 2023, has disclosed how he assists President Bola Tinubu fulfill his political objective 20 years later.
He said this as he described the events that took place during the run-up to the 2003 general election between him, Tinubu, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
As he persuaded Obasanjo to permit Tinubu to keep sway in Lagos State in 2003 due to PDP taking control of the entire Southwest, Atiku claimed that he assisted Tinubu in winning his bid for a second term as governor of Lagos.
He emphasized that Tinubu won his primary election in Lagos in 2007 on the basis of merit and reiterated that Tinubu worked for the late President Umar Yar’Adua.
This information was revealed by the PDP 2023 presidential candidate on Thursday in Abuja during a global press conference to discuss the Chicago State University scandal.
Atiku claims, “Tinubu didn’t support me in 2007, when the Lagos primary elections were place, and I won on merit. He later sent me people so that he could be my running mate, but I don’t like Muslim Muslim tickets, and I still won’t support them.
“Tinubu worked to help Umaru Musa Yar’Adua win in 2007.
While I was the one who urged OBJ to leave Lagos State for Tinubu in 2003, we took the other South-West states instead, but regrettably, he backed Yar’Adua against me.
