Chelsea hammered Man City 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to get their Premier League campaign back on track
The Blues currently sit fourth on the Premier League standings with 34 points
Sarri, however, believes Chelsea are not well-equipped to challenge for the EPL title
Chelsea on Saturday, December 8, defeated high-flying Manchester City 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to keep their title hopes alive.
Goals from N’Golo Kante and David Luiz in either halves of the clash helped Chelsea seal a famous victory over Pep Guardiola’s side.
However, despite masterminding his first ever win over Guadiola, Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri still believe his side is not well equipped to challenge for the Premier League title.
According to a report by the UK Metro, Sarri was wary when asked about his side’s chances of challenging for the EPL silverware.
The Italian tactician insisted Manchester City remain one of the best teams in Europe, adding that it will be very hard for Chelsea to close in on the gap between the two sides.
“Of course yes, because as I said always I think that it’s impossible to cover this gap in one season,” the UK Metro quoted Sarri.
“One match you can play but in the competition of ten months it’s difficult to cover the gap and at the moment they are they best team in Europe,” he added.
Sarri further observed that his side was a little lucky not to concede in the first half owing to Man City’s attacking prowess.“We won today but we must say we were a bit lucky in the first 25 minutes because they could score so a bit lucky in the first half and a very good second half,” he said.
