Tension flared in the Oke Ado area of Ibadan after a mob stormed the CBEX office, looting furniture such as chairs, tables, and anything they could carry, in reaction to the sudden crash of the digital trading platform.
CBEX, a popular investment platform, reportedly collapsed recently, wiping out users’ account balances and leaving many in financial distress. Videos circulating on social media captured emotional scenes of distraught individuals—especially women—shedding tears over their lost investments.
The collapse triggered widespread outrage, with some victims expressing their anger by invading local CBEX offices and causing destruction. One viral clip shows a crowd making off with various office items in apparent retaliation.
Reactions online have been mixed, with many expressing disbelief and anger:

@DrMel_ commented: “I thought it was just an online scam. So they actually had a physical office?”
