Ethiopia suffered defeat in the hands of Congo, losing 1-0 at the Free State Stadium in Mangaung on Friday.
The lack lusture Group C saw both teams few goal attempts.
Of the halves, the second was better , however, both teams were wasteful in their finishing.
In the 78th minute Congo got luck when a long ball found Rudy Ndey who slotted the ball in the back of the net against the Ethiopian goalie Jemal Bushra.
The Congolaise defended well to preserve their lead until the very end.
This loss sees Ethiopia exit CHAN 2014 while the win puts the Congolaise in a strong position to qualify for the next round.
