Road accidents are becoming rampant on our highways again, from Lagos-Ibadan to Okene- Lokoja expressways the chilling stories of ghastly motor accidents recorded continues to send shivers down our spines. These mishaps which are more like a recurring decimal are usually caused by the bad state of most of our roads, dangerous driving by motorist and in our recent past police road blocks (thank God they are off the road) .
Here is another accident, one in a long series:
Last Saturday, Kamorudeen Adeoye, chairman of the Task Force of the Road Transport Workers’ Union, RTEAN, in Papalanto was compressed to death by a heavy duty fully loaded with cement along Abeokuta-Ilaro road.
The deceased, the sole occupant of the car as of the time of the accident was on his way to Ilaro when the trailer with number plate Jigawa XB 894 HJA, belong to a popular cement company along the Papalanto- Ewekoro axis cut his life short in its prime.
Although, the cause of the accident could not be officially ascertained, speculators say it that the driver of the trail might have been cruising at high speed and recklessly.
Irate youths in the area gathered to burn down the trailer and its content, but logical reasoning and plea by elders around later made them jettison this idea.
