Many Nigerian celebrities have touched down in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for what has been tagged the “Showbiz wedding of the year” as music star, Tuface Idibia and his long-time love, Annie Macaulay, will be officially joined as man and wife today.
The two will tie the nuptial knot during a traditional wedding ceremony holding at the Apostolic High School, Esit Urua Community, Eket-Ibeno Road, Uyo.
They have been engaged since Tuface popped the proposal with a sparkling diamond ring on Valentine’s day last year in the presence of very close friends to a shocked Annie at former Club 10 (now Club PoP) in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Like Annie, many were equally shocked with the music star’s decision to settle down. The issue of his marriage has attracted a lot of attention, given his notoriety with different women out of which three sired five children for him.
But in a dramatic turn last year, he settled for Annie, an actress whom he actually met while still struggling in the industry as an upcoming artiste and member of the defunct pop group, Plantashaun Boiz.
When he left the group to pursue a solo career, Annie stuck with him and unmindful of other women who swarmed around the young successful handsome crooner. 2Face would eventually feature her in the video of his monstrous hit, African Queen, from where the two later became a hotter item. Not long after, they cemented their relationship when their four year old daughter, Isabella Eneh came in.
Explaining his reason for settling down with Annie of all his ladies, 2face confessed that it was a decision he made from the depth of his soul. “Like any other thought about something important, you start feeling the need to do something or go somewhere different from deep within. Then you just make your move one time; no shaking. The timing for marriage should not be determined by any outside influences,” he said.
And today’s traditional marriage is a testimony to 2face knowing where his heart belongs.
Among dignitaries expected at the event are governors, ministers, entertainers and captains of industry.
The couple’s white wedding will hold in Dubai, UAE on 23 March, where they are expected to spend their honeymoon.
