Nigerian rapper CDQ has revealed that he once declined a record deal offer from Afrobeats sensation Davido.
In a recent chat with Echo Room, CDQ recounted how Davido reached out to him via Twitter after the success of his hit track “Indomie.” Davido expressed interest in signing him, saying he had just returned from a lucrative African tour and was eager to invest in CDQ’s career to make him Africa’s biggest rapper.
However, CDQ insisted on involving his producer, Masterkraft, in any deal. During a meeting with Davido, Masterkraft proposed a partnership rather than a traditional record deal, arguing that CDQ already had a strong street presence. Davido declined the offer, and the deal ultimately fell through.
