To aid in revamping the nation’s agricultural sector, the sum of N1.94 billion was disbursed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to both individual and corporate farmers under the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme (ACGS)
The funds were released by the apex bank between October and November 2013.
A breakdown of how the funds were disbursed showed that 8,076 male farmers received over N1.45 billion, representing 75% of the total amount disbursed while N492.10 million was paid to 3 397 female farmers.
Taraba State farmers benefited the most from the scheme with 1 011 farmers from the state getting N268.38 million while 861 farmers from Kano received N167.21 million during this period.
