Omah Lay listed Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and Olamide and acknowledged their role in his success.
Regarding his unique approach to music, Omah Lay mentioned that he is not aware of what sets him apart from his peers and other musicians, but he believes that being himself while creating music is what makes him stand out.

“I feel like I wouldn’t have been here if it weren’t for the previous generation – Burna, Wiz, Davido and Olamide – they are the reasons why I am here right now and I am doing it like this. Yeah, I can’t say for sure what exactly it is that I am doing differently; I’m just doing me and it is what it is.”
