Grammy-winning Nigerian artist, Burna Boy (real name Damini Ogulu), has stirred fresh controversy after ejecting a couple from his Denver concert in the United States on Wednesday night for allegedly dozing off during his set.
The incident unfolded when Burna Boy suddenly halted his performance to confront a male fan whose partner appeared to be asleep.
“When I stand up here [on the stage] and see you over there with your girl sleeping in the front of me, it pisses me the fk up. So, please, take her the fk home… Walahi I’m not performing another song till you go home,” Burna Boy fumed.
Initially, the couple particularly the lady hesitated to leave, but the crowd’s chants urging them to exit eventually forced them out. Burna Boy then resumed his performance after their departure.
The incident has triggered divided opinions online, with critics accusing the singer of disrespecting paying fans.
This isn’t the first time Burna Boy has made headlines for such behavior. In past concerts, he once kicked a fan who ran on stage to hug him and another time ordered an attendee to leave for not dancing.
Over time, Burna Boy has gained a reputation for removing fans from his shows over what many consider minor issues.
