Nigerian Grammy-winning Afrobeat star Burna Boy has sparked controversy with a cryptic social media post, which many believe is directed at fellow music icon Davido.
In an Instagram story, Burna Boy appeared to criticize individuals for allegedly pretending to own luxury properties and expensive items.
He wrote:
“If you ever lied about buying Sujimoto’s house in Banana Island when you only rented it, do better in 2025.”
“If you ever lied about Elele’s house being yours, do better in 2025.”
“If you have an aftermarket ‘rainbow Daytona,’ please stop telling people it’s real. Do better in 2025.”
Burna Boy further commented, “It should be a criminal offense to tell as many lies as certain men. The list can go on and on.”
The post, which quickly went viral, has been widely interpreted as a subtle jab at Davido. Burna Boy’s references to Sujimoto’s Banana Island property and a luxury Rolex Daytona watch seem to align with past claims linked to Davido’s extravagant lifestyle, adding fuel to the speculation.
This comes shortly after Davido was seen sharing a warm moment with Burna Boy’s mother, including a hug and some lighthearted banter, at an all-white party hosted by billionaire Tony Elumelu.
