Netizens have provided proof against the award-winning Nigerian musician Burna Boy for refuting allegations of using songwriters, following a statement by Davido’s artist, Logos Olori. During an interview on City 105.1 FM, the up-and-coming singer mentioned Burna Boy and others when explaining why he employs songwriters. He made this statement to defend his boss, who was teased by fellow artist Wizkid, calling him an ‘influencer with a songwriter.’ In response on his X handle, Burna Boy stated that he does not utilize songwriters. The global star clarified that individuals credited as songwriters on his tracks are solely the producers, adhering to Western music standards.
“Any name you see credited on my songs are only producers of the songs or featured artists not writers. But for some reason the western world considers producers as writers of the instrumentals and they just throw their names on there as writers. Nobody fit write for Odogwu,” he stated.
Moreover, Burna Boy had previously confessed that Davido’s artist, Peruzzi, had written a song for him, which was denied by the 30BG crew member. Meanwhile, social media influencer Daniel Regha brought up the tweet where Burna Boy admitted to enlisting the services of Peruzzi.
“Burna this was u in 2020 giving credit to Peruzzi as a songwriter, but all of a sudden nobody writes for u? For the record no-one gets songwriting credit unless they co-wrote or contributed to writing the song, so ur statement isn’t valid…👇,” he stated.
