Nigerian superstar Burna Boy apologises to fans over concert controversy and low ticket sales
During a live performance, Grammy-winning artist Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, addressed the crowd following backlash from an incident at his Denver show and disappointing ticket sales.
The controversy arose when Burna Boy reportedly asked a female fan, who was asleep in the front row, to be removed, instructing her boyfriend to escort her out or risk the concert being cut short. The moment went viral, sparking widespread social media reactions.
An old video resurfacing, in which Burna Boy allegedly expressed a preference for wealthy fans, worsened the situation, leading to boycotts and cancelled tour dates in the U.S., including Minneapolis on November 28, 2025, and Chicago on December 1, 2025.
Addressing the controversy, Burna Boy apologised during a Texas performance, saying: “I’m sorry, guys. It was a slip of the tongue. I apologize for what I said. I’m so sorry, everyone.”
