A member of the 8th senate has said the need to resolve of all outstanding issues created by the leadership tussles in the Senate as mandated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors mediating in the crisis led to the postponement of the resumption of sitting in the upper legislative chamber.
A statement signed by the acting senate clerk on Friday simply said: “This is to inform all distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the resumption of the senate in plenary has been rescheduled from Tuesday, 21st July 2015 to Tuesday, 28th July, 2015.”
However, the senator who revealed the real reason behind the date change said : “Reconvening next week without resolving the outstanding matters would be unhelpful. So some of us reasoned that since the president would be away for a few days starting from this Sunday, we should not reconvene yet.”
Naijalog recalls that the APC governors had recommended that all outstanding issues, including setting up of committees, should be resolved before the senate reconvenes.
