The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, Tuesday, visited former president, Olusegun Obasanjo to solicit his support ahead of the February 14, 2015 presidential election.,
On Buhari’s entourage to the hilltop residence of Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun state were his running mate, Yemi Osinbajo, the national chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Barnabas Gemade, Audu Ogbe, Sen. Bukola Saraki among others.
“I have come with my running mate, who is also your son from Ogun to solicit your support and blessings in our journey. You know this country far better than any other person and we believe that with your wealth of experience and support, APC will do more better than what this government is doing.
“The issue of insecurity, unemployment, economic slide, corruption and others will be tackled with all sincerity and we promise to move this country to what you dreamt it will be,” Buhari said.
In his response, OBJ as Obasanjo is fondly called praised the former Head of State and wished him well in his presidential journey but did not endorse him categorically.
“Let me say that for those of you that are campaigning all over, it is better you tell the people what you will do for them, campaign based on issues and not on frivolity or abusive languages. Every party has its good and bad, which you always use to campaign against yourselves but when government is formed, we must all come together for the betterment of the country,” Obasanjo advised.
The APC presidential train will make whistle stops in was on its way to Ikenne, the hometown of Yemi Osinbajo, where they will pay a courtesy visit to the matriarch of Awolowo dynasty, Mama HID Awolowo and Ijebu Ode where they will pay homage to the Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona before returning to Abeokuta where a mammoth crowd is waiting to welcome the man, they refer to as Mr CHANGE at the MKO Abiola stadium.
