The governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has announced public holidays on Thursday, February 22, and Friday, February 23, in honor of the late governor Rotimi Akeredolu. The two days off will allow the people of Ondo state to participate in the burial activities of the former governor, who died on December 27, 2023, after battling leukaemia and prostate cancer. According to the programme released by the family, Akeredolu would be buried on Friday, February 23, in his hometown of Owo. Governor Aiyedatiwa barely survived impeachment in 2023 and was sworn in as the governor after Akeredolu’s demise.
