Information reaching us say that men of the Nigerian Police are presently at the University of Lagos.
Sporadic gunshots can be heard and the effects of tear gas cannisters can be felt within the university community.
According to an eyewitness, the policemen swarmed on the students who were holding peaceful protests commando style.
Angry University of Lagos students have been demonstrating since May 29 when President Goodluck Jonathan changed the name of the foremost university to Mashood Abiola University, in honour of the acclaimed winner of the June 12 1993, presidential election.
As of the time of going to press, no casualty has been recorded.
