A surveillance chopper carrying the Deputy Inspector General of Police, John Haruna, his orderly and a pilot and an engineer crashed around 12:15pm this afternoon killing all passengers on board.
The crash occurred along Rukuba Road in Kabong area of Jos.
An eyewitness said that the helicopter crashed into a house, where a baby was confirmed injured, while an unspecified number of casualties were rushed to Air Force Military Hospital, Jos.
John Haruna John was until recently, the Commissioner of Police in the FCT. He was handpicked for promotion to a Deputy Inspector General of Police alongside 7 by the Acting IG of Police, Mohmamed Dahiru Abuabakar on February 22, 2012 and officially decorated with his new rank on March 2, 2012, less than two weeks ago.
