Police and the FBI have responded to reports of gunshots on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, which is adjacent to Boston, according to MIT. They have surrounded and cordoned off one building.
The university requested people stay away from Building 32, as police consider the situation still active.
A campus police officer has been confirmed dead. The extent of the officer’s injuries are not know.
People in the Boston area have been on edge after two bombs ripped through the crowd near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three people and injured 183 more.
