Sporadic gunshots were heard in Maidguiri, military sources have confirmed.
“It is the Boko Haram terrorists we are battling with now as you can hear. They wanted to enter through Dalwa. But we are tackling them, ” a soldier involved in repelling the attack said.
Boko Haram are in control of a large part of Borno State, and want to hoist their flag in Maiduguri, the state capital.
