Amodu, a four-time handler of the national male football team, died on Friday night after complaining of chest pains. He reportedly died in his sleep after. He was 58 years old.
At the time of his death, Amodu was the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Amodu Shuaibu’s death comes just three days after that of former Super Eagles Captain and Coach, Stephen Keshi, who died in the early hours of Wednesday.
The NFF has confirmed the sad occurrence on its official Twitter handle.
“That is correct. He slept and he could not wake up,” NFF secretary general, Dr Mohammed Sanusi said, confirming the big loss in the passing away of Amodu on Friday night.
The two dead tacticians, Amodu and Keshi worked together as Nigeria’s head coach and assistant coach respectively at the 2002 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Mali.
