Tuesday saw an agreement between the Federal Government and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) to give the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu two weeks to address some of the complaints of the Congress.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Labor and Employment, Solomon Lalong, at the conclusion of a meeting with the Trade Union Congress leadership, which was led by its President, Comrade Festus Osifo, according to Naija News.
The Minister called the conference to settle disagreements between the TUC and the Nigeria Labour Congress and to prevent the impending warning strike by organized labor.
According to Lalong, the concerns with a two-week deadline for settlement include tax exemption for a specific level of workers in both the public and private sectors, as well as wage awards for federal civil servants to mitigate the impact of their rising poverty.According to Lalong, the concerns with a two-week deadline for settlement include tax exemption for a specific level of workers in both the public and private sectors, as well as wage awards for federal civil servants to mitigate the impact of their rising poverty.
