The Nigerian team is already dealing with the withdrawal of midfielder Wilfred Ndidi due to a three-month muscle injury, and Boniface’s absence adds to the setbacks. Alhassan Yusuf, who plays for Royal Antwerp, has replaced Ndidi in the squad. Boniface, who was set to partner with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, has contributed ten goals and seven assists for Bayer Leverkusen.
