Men of the 23rd Armoured Brigade, Yola, Adamawa State of the Nigerian Army at the weekend, uncovered another bomb factory at Arahan Kunu ward off Maiha-Mubi Road, in Mubi, Adamawa State.

Mubi, in the recent time, faced series of attacks and killings of students, leading to the discovery of a number of bomb factories in the town.

The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General John Nwoaga, who conducted journalists round the bomb factory, said the brigade discovered it when the car of one suspicious looking 24-year-old man, Mohammed Ibrahim, was intercepted.

A search on the car had led to the discovery of a pistol, different Nigerian and foreign currencies, phone SIM cards and recharge cards.

According to Nwoaga, the recovery of the gun and the sum of N3.5 million in the suspect’s car, with Lagos registration number, CF 26 SMK, led to other discoveries, including a factory in a house located in an isolated suburb of Mubi, where Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and chemicals were found in the factory.

He revealed that during the search of the factory, the army discovered grenades, police uniforms, teargas, gunboats and a number of items in the ceiling.

General John Nwoaga said investigation was being carried out by the brigade to unravel the source of the money, pistol and communication materials recovered from suspects.

He assured Nigerians that the army would do everything possible to protect the lives and property of innocent citizens, but appealed to the people to cooperate with his men, as frantic efforts were being made to bring the situation in Mubi under control.

He used the forum to debunk the unpalatable allegations against the Nigerian Army, describing such allegations as fabricated, malicious, unfounded and untrue, as the army and other security agencies were decisive in tackling security breaches in Adamawa State.
