Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has taken legal action against internet activist and critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM), over an audio clip shared by VDM on social media.
The recording allegedly featured Bobrisky discussing how he reportedly bribed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with N15 million to drop money laundering charges. The audio also implicated certain Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) officers in allowing Bobrisky to serve his six-month sentence outside prison.
However, Bobrisky has denied the claims, asserting that the recording was artificially generated using AI.
In a letter shared on his Facebook page, Bobrisky’s legal team demanded that VeryDarkMan delete the audio, issue public apologies in two national newspapers, and post a video apology across social media. They are also seeking N1 billion in damages and a halt to any further defamatory posts within 24 hours.
Part of the letter reads, “We demand, on behalf of our client, a written apology published in two national daily newspapers, a video recording of your apology to our client shared on all your social media platforms, a commitment to refrain from reporting or publishing defamatory content against our client, and the payment of N1,000,000,000 in damages within 24 hours of this letter via social media or any other means.”
