In a friendly match played early this morning (2:00 a.m.) at the Estadio Nacional, Lima, the Peru national team defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria by a lone goal.
Hamburg’s Paolo Guerrero scored the only goal of the encounter in the 37th minute for the home team.
The Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi fielded a team made up of home based players, leaving most of the foreign professionals he called up for the match on the bench.
The Nigeria showed some brilliant dispaly but the altitude and the hitches they encourted enroute Lima no doubt took a toll on them.
Nigeria’s next match is the 2014 World Cup qualification match against Namibia on June 3 in Calabar.
