Emotions ran high in Mombasa after two men were caught defiling a four year old girl; the men had already killed the girl by the time residents stormed at the restaurant where the men were committing the heinous act.
According to her father Bashir Abdi who spoke amid tears, his daughter went missing at around 6 p.m. as she was playing with her friends and a search for the girl ensued immediately.
It was during the search that residents entered a neighboring room which was used as a restaurant after they heard some commotions and were in shock when they found the girl sandwiched between the two assailants.
One assailant is alleged to have been on the girl’s back strangling her as the other defiled her; they defiled her in turns till she died. Residents however rushed the girl whose neck was swollen to Coast General Hospital but she was confirmed dead on arrival.
Mombasa police boss Kipkemboi Rop confirmed the incident and said that residents managed to corner one of the assailants who is also a neighbor and a close family friend to the family while the other escaped.
Residents attempted lynching the man but police intervened and rescued him. He was arraigned in court today as a search for the other assailant continues.
