Nigerian singer Bigiano has stated that he was the songwriter behind the hook of Davido’s 2011 breakout hit, Dami Duro. The Shayo crooner made this revelation during a recent interview with content creator Akin Abolade.
The Allegation
Bigiano was specific about his contribution to the track, asserting his role in its creation.
He claimed:
“I wrote Dami Duro for Davido. I wrote the hook,”
On His Hiatus and Finances
Addressing his prolonged absence from the music industry, the singer explained that stepping back was a strategic move intended to prepare him for a major comeback.
He said:
“Sometimes, you have to take a break to be able to come back again. I went on a sabbatical to make my return to music massive.”
He also dispelled any rumors regarding his financial status, insisting that despite not releasing music for a while, he remains financially stable.
He stressed:
“I can’t be broke.”
Background
Dami Duro is widely credited with launching Davido to superstardom upon its release in 2011 and is frequently cited by critics as one of the greatest Afrobeats songs in history. Currently, Bigiano is not officially listed as a co-writer on the track, and Davido has yet to respond to these new claims.
