A Benue State University student identified as Oketa Simon, was reportedly shot dead on November 6, 2018, in a farm opposite Rahama Clinic Logo II Makurdi by suspected cultists.

The police has however arrested 18-year-old Samuel Ochoechi, a non student in connection to the murder of the 300level Mass Communication undergraduate of Benue State University who is also said to be cultist.

Upon interrogation, the arrested suspect disclosed that he conspired with three others namely; Bem Uper aka Movement, Viper and Chemical, all members of the Red Confraternity to kill the Benue State University student said to be a member of the Black Confraternity over a missing Jean trouser.

While the police worked round the clock to arrest the suspects involved in the crime, a retaliation attack was launched by the rival cult and one Bem Uper aka Movement, a 400level Theatre Arts undergraduate of same University, was hacked to death on Wednesday, November 7, beside Kyabiz Filling Station opposite Benue University second gate.

Confirming the incident, the Benue State Police command disclosed that those arrested will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded. Friends of the killed cultists are already penning down tributes to them on social media;
