Luxury carmaker Bentley has unveiled what it claims to be the world’s fastest four-seat convertible.
The wraps come off the new Continental GT Speed on January 14 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The car is the drophead version of the coupe first shown in August 2012.
The open topper is fitted with four-wheel drive as standard and powered by a 12-cylinder, six-litre engine which turns out 624 horsepower. Top speed is given as 325 kilometres an hour.
Acceleration is rapid to match, with 100 km/h reached from zero after 4.4 seconds.
Bentley says the car uses less fuel than its predecessor although the performance flagship still consumes 14.9 litres per 100 km/h. C02 emissions are 347 g/km.
