Bedbugs infest Yabatech hostels and classrooms

Some student of The Yaba College of Education (YABATECH) have lamented being terrorized by bedbugs in their hostels since the beginning of this year.

A new student of the school who spoke to The Nation newspaper,said he was told upon entering the hostel by a senior student that he would have to disinfect his mattress as they were all filled with bedbugs.
More injuries were added when students started seeing the bugs in their classrooms.

“You can even see the bugs moving from one place to another to the extent of finding bedbugs in the lecture room,” he said.
Emmanuel, another fresher in the school said students sometimes make use of a whole bottle of insecticide on their beds before they can even lay at night and this is unhealthy, adding that the school management is aware yet are not doing anything.

He added saying that the school management was aware and is doing nothing about it.
A former female student said the school had once been fumigated but there was still no change.

“The last fumigation before I graduated was in January and I don’t think it has been done again.
