Bayelsa United coach Ladan Bosso has set himself the target of leading the Yenagoa club to the Premier League title in the upcoming season.
Kano Pillars won the league shield last term, with Enyimba in the second place and Bayelsa third.
But former Nigeria Under-20 team coach Bosso insists the story will be different this time around, saying he will fight to get his hands on the trophy.
“We intend to surpass our last season performance by winning the league,” the former Niger Tornadoes manager was quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria as saying during the week.
“We know we can do it because last season we were seen as the underdogs, having just been promoted to the premier league.”
He revealed plans for the signing of quality players” to create more room for competition”.
Bosso said, “When we announce that we would beef up our squad, people get the impression that the players we have are not good enough.
“We are doing what we are doing to create room for competition among the players.”
Meanwhile, Wikki Tourists management is to organise a workshop aimed at promoting a good relationship between the club supporters and the players.
Wikki Chairman Sule Chindo said the club had made a request to the Bauchi State Government to sponsor the workshop.
Chindo said, “Our supporters contributed to the club’s performance which led to their relegation.
“It is to reverse this attitude that we decided to seek government’s intervention so that they could be educated on good relationship.”
