Bandits have reportedly k!lled Abuja-based businessman Muhammad Shuaibu and his 19-year-old daughter, Fatima Shuaibu, despite the family paying a ₦12 million ransom.

Fatima, who was a student at the University of Abuja, lost her life during the ordeal, while her father was a trader at Dei-Dei Modern Market in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

Reports indicate that Shuaibu was abducted along with his two daughters on October 3, 2025, after gunmen attacked their home in Zhidu community, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.

A family member, who spoke anonymously, revealed that the victims were taken into the bush alongside other household members during the attack.

The kidnappers later demanded ransom in installments, which the family paid in three parts ₦6 million, ₦4 million, and ₦2 million bringing the total to ₦12 million.

According to the source, the attackers had already k!lled Fatima about three months earlier, accusing her of being “stubborn,” even while negotiations were still ongoing.

After the final payment, the kidnappers reportedly informed the person who delivered the money to return home, claiming that the businessman had also d!ed in captivity after falling seriously ill.

The source added that the family sold several valuables, including the victim’s shop at Dei-Dei Modern Market, his personal car, and a sachet water production machine, in order to raise the ransom.

“The bandits even asked us to sell his house, but there was no buyer,” he added.
