Reality TV star and actress Bamike Olawunmi, popularly known as Bambam, has shared her harrowing experience during childbirth.
As previously reported by NAIJALOG, Bambam and her husband, Teddy A, welcomed their first child, Zendaya, in 2020, less than a year after their wedding.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Me & My Girls podcast, Bambam described her first childbirth as traumatic, revealing that her kidney failed, her liver shut down, and her vital organs began to collapse during labor.
She highlighted medical negligence as a major cause of stillbirths, stressing that delays or errors by doctors and nurses often lead to tragic outcomes.
“Many stillbirths happen due to negligence. Sometimes, the doctor isn’t competent, the nurse delays care, or the patient arrives at the hospital too late,” she explained.
Recalling her own ordeal, she said, “During my first labor, my kidney failed, my heart was weak, and my liver shut down. My daughter had detached from the placenta, and if I had been a second late to the hospital, she would have lost oxygen, leading to a stillbirth.”
Bambam admitted that the experience left her haunted by “what ifs”, causing emotional distress. “Every time I look at my daughter, I wonder what could have happened. These thoughts tormented me for a long time. I eventually had to seek therapy to help me focus on gratitude rather than fear,” she shared.
