The Lagos State Government has called on traditional rulers to ensure that the menace of ritual killings and kidnappings happening in their communities is stamped out of the state.
The state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, said this at the inauguration of a rehabilitated fire station in Itamarun, Epe, adding that he was concerned about the spate of killings perpetrated by a “faceless cult, Badoo.”
Ambode, who promised that the government would rid the state of Badoo, stated that there were intelligence reports that the gang had the backing of some persons in the state.
He said, “You must speak to all our baales and other leaders in the communities that we are having issues. We have intelligence that some of these things are coming from within and our obasneed to do something to arrest this decadence.
“As far as the Badoo case is concerned, I don’t believe that rituals can be taking place without some people being behind it.
“So, I challenge all our kabiyesis, baales and traditional leaders to arrest this situation. We will support you.”
