Three days after his mother abandoned the newborn kid in the pit latrine, rescuers found him in Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to the Anambra Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Affairs, the kid was abandoned in the bathroom after his delivery on August 27, 2023, by his 20-year-old mother Nwaedoka Chidimma of Izzi, Ebonyi state.
Farmer and Chidimma’s acquaintance Esther Omesi claimed the suspect requested to stay at her home for a few days due to a farming task.

Omesi described how the suspect began acting strangely on Sunday after the victim told her she was experiencing a stomach ache and went to the pit to relieve herself.
Omesi claimed Chidimma took some time before emerging from the bathroom covered in blood.
Omsesi claimed that she dialed a nurse, who examined Chidimma and discovered that the infant was missing.
She advised Chidinma to return home to tell her parents that she believed Chidinma had given birth to a stillborn child.
Mrs. Omesi stated that on Tuesday morning, August 29, they heard a baby cry and immediately used a ladder to rescue the infant before alerting the appropriate authorities.

As soon as the incidence came to the knowledge of the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, she intervened, transporting the newborn to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka for care and apprehending the offender.
