If everything goes as planned following a meeting of the PDP’s Board of Trustees, the party’s crisis could be resolved soon (BoT) The party does not want to jeopardize its chances in 2023 and may sacrifice its national chairman, Ayu Iyorchia, for the sake of peace, according to sources. The members of the BoT reasoned that the boycott of its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s campaign launch by some governors was ominous. They have reportedly decided to go all out to appease Nyesom Wike and other disgruntled governors.
Unless there are any last-minute changes, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) may request that the party’s national chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, resign as a condition for reconciliation with the aggrieved governors.
The Nation learned that the members of the BoT have been holding a series of meetings since the weekend. Among the key party leaders it met with was Delta state governor and vice presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa. The PDP may request that Ayu resign. According to reports, the decision to ask Ayu to resign was made when some influential BoT members met in Abuja last Friday, September 30.
