High-profile attorney Anthony Ricco has officially stepped down from representing embattled American singer Sean “Diddy” Combs, just months before his federal sex trafficking trial.
According to NAIJALOG, Diddy is currently facing over 30 civil lawsuits and is awaiting a federal criminal trial on sex trafficking and racketeering, scheduled for May 5, 2025.
In a motion filed before the New York Federal Court on Thursday, Ricco announced his withdrawal from the case but did not disclose specific reasons for his decision.
The legal document stated that he informed the judge of his intent to step down, citing “sufficient reasons protected by lawyer-client privilege.”
In the motion, which still requires judicial approval, Ricco asserted, “Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.”
Anthony Ricco is widely recognized for his involvement in the Osama bin Laden case.
