This comes after the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) dismissed his claim and affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory, according to a report in The Punch.
Business Day newspaper also covered the development in a report.
In response to the tribunal’s decision on Wednesday, September 6, former vice president Atiku and the acting national chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagun, announced they would be holding a global press conference.
The conference, which is scheduled to start at 2:30 pm at the PDP’s national headquarters in Abuja’s NEC Hall, will start.
Why the tribunal rejected Atiku’s claim
Prior to this, Legit.ng claimed that the PEPT had rejected the opposition parties’ applications due to significant weaknesses in their petitions.
Remember that Atiku, Peter Obi (of the Labour Party), Chichi Ojei (of the Allied Peoples Movement), and others failed to unseat President Tinubu through the tribunal?
According to a report in the Daily Trust on Thursday, September 7, the court determined that the opposition candidates’ claims lacked merit.
